Awesome book. Should make every "best of 2014 comic list" this winter.

Art is good. Dialogue is quality. Plot and pacing of the story are very well done. The concepts of the technology in the future are placed very matter-of-factly throughout the story. This is exceptionally well done.

If you like comics as a medium for telling stories, you like sci-fi and you're a bit tired (and let down) by Marvel and DC books, this will leave you feeling very satisfied.

Alex & Ada is a fun, well written and moderately thought-provoking read, plus the art is great! I whole-heatedly recommend this comic to anyone with at least a passing interest in future-tech, robots and AI. Johnathan Luna's plain-spoken tone and linear narrative in a comic that's pretty light on the text makes this comic perfect for newcomers to the genre as well as a excellent quick read for comic enthusiasts.

Can't believe there will only be 15 issues! Nooooooooo I want more!!
Interesting concept but little actually occurs during these first 6 issues. I am going to continue reading Vol 2 and 3 but this isnt the instant hit I was hoping it to be.

There's mall jokes - mostly eighth grade humor (do you find a sex-crazed grandmother hysterical, this book is for you) - but nothing laugh out loid funny.
The motivations of Alex are underwhelming, and he's not too interesting as a character. And Ada has no personality,yet.

The world the graphic novel is built in is the only interesting part. Post-fallout, after an AI became aware and attacked and killed humans. Now sentient thought is feared and illegal...
I've been following Luna's work for years and this is another addition to my favorites. I love stories that involve robots/androids and their involvement among mankind. It's a genre that a lot would say has been done to death but hasn't every story at this point? Never the less, we find this story between a 9 to 5'er and a companion bot he didn't really want. A bot that, like a child, is just discovering the world and wants more. But facing the dangers that entails, even in his reluctance to accept what owning her means about his life, can he just set her free upon the world. Anymore than you could let your child. There is a responsibility there, one that comes to every new parent. It's worth a read and I look forward to their continued story and the growth of both Ada and Alex, mind, body, and spirit.
Before you start reading, let me tell you that this is the first graphic novel I read, as I was looking to expand my borders and a very close friend had always recommended me to read graphic novels. So I decided to give it a try and do not regret it because I liked it.

I'll start talking about the cover, which is what caught my attention and that's why I read the synopsis and buy it. The cover seems minimalist but accurate because at the end you realize that this cover is the whole plot of this first volume. Regarding the plot, at first I found it a bit slow, I do not know if what I adapted to this type of reading. But when it appears Ada everything changes and becomes more fluid history. In fact from the arrival of Ada kept me intrigued and when the end of thevolume, I needed to have the volume 2 in my hands.

This graphic novel puts us in a futuristic world where robots are the order of the day. However these robots with some modifications may have the ability to think for themselves. What causes fear in some and causing others to resort to illegal means to grant their robots control of his actions and thoughts. This aspect for some reason reminds me of all rights struggles that have been unleashed in history. Because there are always those who oppose, those in favor and there are always tragedies to achieve at that fight. And that exactly is unleashed in this graphic novel only thing here would be for the rights of robots.

A peculiarity that caught my tension, and I would not bother to be created in the future, is that just by thinking things can turn on/off, make calls, search the Internet, among other things. When I realized that detail had a "mind blowing", thinking about the possibilities of this.

As for the illustration, it is a great job, detailed and realistic. I love the drawings of people and robots are very real, very vivid. It seems almost that you were watching cartoons on TV.

I really like it
After a bad break up Alex is struggling. He goes to work he comes home and even when he is with friends you can tell his mind is elsewhere. His grandma sends him an X5 android for his birthday and at first he doesn’t want her, but soon begins to enjoy the company of the X5, Ada. After a few days we see his feelings for her start to change and he wants her to be something more than just someone who does exactly what he says. Alex wants Ada to be more human less robot. He ventures out and finds someone to help him make Ada more real.

I heard that Alex + Ada was great, but I did not expect to love it as much as I did! Alex was so sweet and I loved getting the story from his point of view. The venture to turn Ada sentient was very intriguing. I was immediately hooked on this graphic novel. The story flowed easily, Jonathan Luna’s artwork is absolutely beautiful, and I can’t wait for Volume 2 and 3. Especially after seeing Alex start to develop feelings for Ada… the hopeless romantic in me was dying for something to spark between them. The only issue I did have with this volume was Alex’s relationship with his grandma… it was both cute and a little weird.

Overall, this graphic novel is definitely stepping up to the plate here. I’m currently obsessing over it. It’s not action packed or super quick paced, but something about it all is so real and I really enjoyed it.
